Writing Samples

A collection of musings, spoof pieces and copy — the things I make when I’m procrastinating in my screenwriting work.

Rolling Stone Magazine

When I heard news of Jeff Bezos’ data breach and the subsequent attempts of Enquirer magazine to extort him, I thought it was hilarious that one of the supposed pictures he sent of his penis was taken while he was still wearing cargo shorts. Having trouble in my screenwriting, I decided to write a few spoof paragraphs for fun, from the perspective of a purple-prose-writing Seattle burnout (I’ve never been to Seattle). It turned into a 4,000 word article which, I decided, wasn’t complete until it was in official Rolling Stone Layout, complete with pictures. I’d been listening to a lot of NPR Podcasts which, I believe, added a special glaze of self-important twee wonderment and a meandering storytelling style that gracefully frames sheer absolute pointlessnes of the piece.

Avocado’s Extra : A series of rantings an observations from life

The concept is to create a coffee table book of short pieces that may resonate with people or cause them to expel short snorts of air from their nostrils while wearing a moderated grin. I began penning brief observations of the thoughts that passed like clouds through the sky of my mind, mostly while taking my daily walks. I’m continually adding to this list of mostly satirical writings.

Ad copy

I love the TV show Mad Men. One of the reasons is because I’ve always been interested in the personification of brands and the subtly-pervasive impact that arises at the nexus of simple images and short copy.
